Society of Coronary Surgeons

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting surgery continues to be the most commonly performed cardiac surgical procedure and is an index operation for the specialty. However inspite of the excellent work done by many surgeons in our country in this area we do not have a standing in the international arena due to lack of scientific data publications. We felt the need for a dedicated Academic Body for coronary surgery where the focus will be on science and database. This thought has crystallized and the Society of Coronary Surgeons was founded in August 2020, The Society of Coronary Surgeons is an organization constituted by surgeons who have a keen interest in surgical management of coronary artery disease.

Mission

MISSION of the society is to enhance the ability of coronary surgeons to provide high quality of patient care through Education, Research, Innovation and Advocacy.

Vision

VISION of the society is improving lives of patients with coronary artery disease by surgical treatment.

The purposes of the Society shall be

  • To associate surgeons/specialists interested in standardization of coronary surgical procedures and carry on research to strategically drive coronary research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of coronary artery disease.  To encourage and motivate the researchers and investigators to improve the survival and quality of life of people with coronary artery disease through research and education and advocacy.

  • To hold annual meetings, CMEs, workshops for facilitating elaborate discussions on problems and developments relating to coronary artery disease and its surgical management and to sponsor a Journal for the publication of scientific data presented at meetings and other articles related to coronary artery.

  • Training programs for young surgeons to perform coronary artery bypass surgery reasonably and to increase the work force to continue the legacy of coronary artery surgery.

  • The database of SCS would be a quality improvement initiative much directly accessible and participated by individual coronary surgeons as a way to improve quality and patient safety.
